About Ion Beam Milling
Ultra Fine Line Etching: In simple terms ion beam milling can be viewed as an atomic sand blaster. A selectively applied protectant, photo sensitive resist, is applied to the work element prior to introduction into the ion miller. The resist protects the underlying material during the etching process which may be up to eight hours or longer, depending upon the amount to be removed and the etch rate of the materials.

Attenuators
Attenuators (D.C. to 26.5 GHz) on quartz are available in 1 db increments from 1 db to 20 db. Precision attenuators may also be fabricated on alumina and aluminum nitride.

Attenuator Data Sheet
Series 01311 Chip Attenuators from Ion Beam Milling Inc. are now available in low cost design kits for immediate shipment.

Attenuator Design Kit Info Sheet
These kits provide the designer a selection of commonly used values for use in product development and tuning applications.

Brush Wellman EHS Report

Custom Thin Film Circuits

Filters: low pass, high pass, band pass, band reject/notch RF/microwave filters custom designed to eliminate false signals or harmonics by passing the desired signal or band of signals and rejecting any other signals.

RF and Microwave circuits with integrated couplers, resistors and inductors on all hard board dielectrics. Feature tolerances under 100 microinches are routinely processed in volume quantities for critical commercial, military and space applications.

Lange Coupler
A four port interdigitated structure developed by Dr. Julius Lange in 1969. The couplers are widely used as power combiners and splitters in microwave amplifiers as well as in mixers and modulators.

Laser Diode Submounts (Heat Spreaders):
Ultra precise patterning (+/-3 micron tolerance) of thin film metals on high thermal conductivity dielectrics are used for diode submount (heat spreader) applications.

Heat Spreader Overview
We have developed an overview of heat spreader technology to help designers understand the various nuances of this challenging field.

Heat Spreader / Standoff Capacitor Information Sheet

Our Heat Spreader / Standoff Capacitor offers two functions for the designer of high performance modules. Manufactured from Aluminum Nitride, Beryllium Oxide, and Alumina, these devices provide an optimized mounting platform for high performance semiconductors such as Gallium Arsenide and Silicon.

Microstrip Transmission Line Data Sheet
Ion Beam Milling announces a new product from its RF/Microwave business segment. 50 ohm Transmission lines offer the designer complete flexibility and repeatability for the most challenging RF and Microwave applications.

Planar Chip Inductors
Planar Chip Inductors on polished quartz or alumina, that exhibit very high dimensional uniformity and repeatable performance, for bias injection and tuning in the microwave amplifier, switch and multiplier applications. We also build to custom specification.

Same day turnaround on most applications.

Services - Wafer Processing
Ion Etching: In addition to our complete microfabrication laboratory we also provide our customers a highly anisotropic and nonselective etching process on a wide array of material.

Photolithography, Photo Pattern Processing: Developing precision artwork to meet the custom requirements of the RF/Microwave industry for more than twenty years.

Dicing: Advanced dicing equipment uses a thin diamond blade mounted on a high speed air bearing spindle to dice an array of standard and exotic materials such as Alumina, BeO, Quartz, Aluminum Nitride, and Silicon of various thicknesses.

Testing and Measurement: Providing a broad scope of affordable testing, screening and measurement services, performed to MIL-STD 883 or customer specification.

Standard Products
